Natural and culture heritage of Budanil-Kantha

Park Village Hotel is located at Budanil-Kantha area which is situated at the northwest rim of the Kathmandu valley. It lies at the foothills of the Shivapuri Wild Life Reserve which is designated as the most important water-shed-catchments area that feeds pure drinking water to millions in Kathmandu. 

This Wild Life Reserve is a mountainous region, rich in genetic diversity, densely covered by subtropical rain forest composing rhododendron, birch, oak and orchid forest. Shivapuri is famous for birds watching. It harbors more than 250 species of birds including paradise fly catcher and many different kinds of mammals including leopard, beer, dear, antelopes etc. 

Budanil-Kantha is one of the most important spiritual holy land in Nepal. It houses the statue of sleeping Vishnu which is one of the largest icon carve in a huge monolith. The famous Shivapuri Baba's hermitage, Manichur Danda- a Buddhist sacred place, the great Vipasana Meditation Center, Budanil-Kantha Boarding School where the crown prince studied and dozens of magnificent Tibetan monasteries of various sects are also located here. The sacred spring of Bagh-duwat and Bishnu-Duwat from where the holy Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers flows, lies in the cradle of Shivapuri mountain. 

Budanil-Kantha is totally free from morning fog and mist because the westerly breeze from the opening thresholds of the valley creates a tunneling effect on the air flow in Kathmandu. The Air in this region is so fresh and clean that even people with chronic chest problems are advised to come here for recuperation and good health.
